We are a group of homeschooling and unschooling families from the Philadelphia area working together to provide a gathering place for our children to engage in learning and social opportunities. Our mission is to provide a quality diverse, secular, and inclusive environment in which children are nurtured while engaging in classes and activities in a climate of mutual respect.
Day, Time, and Location
We meet weekly on Tuesdays from 9:30–3:30 at the Unitarian Society of Germantown located just off Lincoln Drive in Mt. Airy, Philadelphia. Teens may also attend Thursdays from 9:30–4. Learn more about the Teen Program here.
The Unitarian Society of Germantown is located just off Lincoln Drive. The best place to park is in the parking lot off of Johnson Drive.
Co-op members actively participate in the running of the co-op, as we have no paid staff. We have created an exciting and interesting place for our young people to learn, socialize and explore.
Each family is expected to contribute a certain number of work hours per trimester, determined by the needs of the co-op.
Members also participate in a committee to help with the many aspects of keeping the co-op going. These committees are Finance, Membership and Social, Operations, and Policy and Procedures.
There is a financial commitment for each trimester. A $25 non-refundable membership fee is due with membership application.
The current cost of the co-op is $25 per week per family for the Tuesday classes. Each trimester consists of ten or twelve week periods which results in a total payment of $250 or $300. Payment is generally divided into two installments and is due in full before the beginning of registration for a trimester.
The additional fee for the Thursday Teen Program is $20 per week, for a total of $45 per week per family.
There is a $25 membership fee when you join the co-op. All fees are non refundable.
