Teen/Tween Program

Mt. Airy Homeschooling Teen/Tween Co-op 2017-2018 is gearing up for its fifth year of offering programming for older homeschooling students.

We are currently accepting applications to join our Thursday Teen/Tween Co-op Program. The Teen/Tween Program offers students entering grade 7-10+ the structure of secondary classes, and another day each week to spend with homeschooling peers.  Your child must be at least 12 by 9/1/17 to participate.

The program is offered on Thursdays from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm at the Unitarian Society of Germantown between September 12, 2017 and June 14, 2018. There will be three 10-week trimesters with breaks for election days, winter holidays, and spring holidays.

The year will include one 10-week class in each of the following subject areas (aligned with the required subject areas in PA law):

  • English
  • Arithmetic
  • Science
  • Geography/History/Civics
  • Health/Safety/Phys Ed
  • Art/Music

Classes will not attempt to be a comprehensive overview of the entire topic, but will cover some subsection of the topic thoroughly.   Parents and teens can propose specific classes that fit within these subject areas.  We’ll decide together which subject areas will happen in which trimester based on teacher availability.

MAHC Teen/Tween Program is a parent-run organization. Working memberships ensure that the program runs well and without great cost. Parents can also teach to offset a portion of the Teen/Tween Program membership fee.

If you wish to apply for membership, please complete the MAHC membership application below. if you have any questions about the program please contact us at teenprogram@mtairyhomeschoolingcoop.org.
